Tipping At All-Inclusive Resorts
(Additional Travel Info)
Everywhere, on the Beach,
All Inclusive Resorts say that tips are included. However due to how little (the typical maid/house keeper in Cancun/Riviera Maya makes about $400 US a month) the employees make I suggest that you tip. Some resorts do not allow tipping. In this case your tip could get the employee fired. Resorts that have this policy are Couples, Sandals and Super Clubs. If you are staying at a resort that is not one of those you should tip. You do not need to tip all the time but here and there it is good to do so. Here is a list of acceptable tips.
Luggage guy at airport (if you let someone help you) $1 per bag no more than $8 no less than $5
Bus Driver $2.50 per person
Driver for Private car transfer $10
Limo Driver $15 each way
Bell Boy $5 each way
Maid $2 a day
Restaurant waiter for dinner $3 - $5
Lunch and breakfast bus boy $2 (not needed every time)
Beach waitress $5 with your first round a couple bucks later in the day if you are getting good service.
Bartender $1 or $2 a round (not needed every round)
Room service a couple of bucks depending on how much they brought to you.
Driver to tour $3 each way
Tour guide $2 per person
Deep sea fishing captain if on a shared basis $5 per person
Deep sea fishing captain in on a private basis $15 per person
Deep sea fishing deck hand if on a shared basis $5 per person
Deep sea fishing deck hand if on a private basis $15 per person
Of course these are just minimum suggestions. More is appreciated if you can spare it. The more you tip the better your service will be.
